College Prep Terms of Service

General Terms

The Client

The term “Client” shall refer collectively to both the applicant and the applicant’s parent(s) or guardians.

Admissions Services

For the purposes of this agreement, the term “Admissions Services” shall refer, in the case of each specific package, to the services described in the “Enumeration of Services” section for that package.

Admissions Advisor and Writing Coach

The term “Admissions Advisor” shall refer to the 7Sage consultant responsible for giving strategic advice relating to the Client’s applications. The term “Writing Coach” shall refer to the 7Sage consultant responsible for providing editorial advice about the content, style, syntax, and diction of the written components of the Client’s applications.

Confidentiality

7Sage will keep the Client’s Documents and personal information confidential. 7Sage Admissions Advisors and Writing Coaches may share the Client’s Documents and information with other 7Sage personnel. 7Sage may also share the Client’s documents with third-party proofreaders for the purpose of proofreading.

What’s Not Included

7Sage’s College Prep packages do not include the following, unless provided for in a separate agreement:

  1. Writing original content or preparing application documents on behalf of the Client
  2. Fact-checking the Client’s documents
  3. Editorial work on documents that have been edited or critiqued by a third party after the Admissions Services commence
  4. Editing letters of recommendation (although 7Sage will provide advice about recommendations)
  5. Editorial work on any document more than 500 percent longer than a school’s stated length guideline
  6. Assistance on applications to programs available only to admitted students
  7. Direct interaction with undergraduate admissions offices, financial aid offices, student organizations, or visa authorities on the Client’s behalf
  8. Feedback from 7Sage consultants other than the Client’s Writing Coach and/or Admissions Advisor
  9. Feedback on documents containing any text generated by ChatGPT or other AI-based programs

Payment

The Client agrees to pay for 7Sage’s Admissions Services in full, if the Client has not already done so, according to a schedule agreed upon by the Client and 7Sage (the “Payment Plan”).

If the Client has agreed to a Payment Plan with 7Sage, 7Sage will periodically send emails to the client with links to an online payment portal (“Invoices”). Payment is to be made within 15 days of each Invoice. Any payment after the due date is subject to 2% interest per month.

7Sage does not allow the Client to “downgrade” from the Consulting package to another editing package.

No-Shows and Late Cancellations

The Client agrees to provide at least 24-hours notice before cancelling any meeting. If the Client misses one meeting without giving at least 24-hours notice, they will be allowed to reschedule. If they miss any meeting thereafter without giving at least 24-hours notice, that meeting will count against the total number of meetings to which the Client is entitled.

Refunds

7Sage offers a qualified six-day refund policy. If the Client requests a refund within six days of payment, the Client shall be entitled to a full refund less $350 per hour of 7Sage’s work time and less a 6% processing fee. For example, if we’ve spent half an hour with you, we can refund your purchase less $175 + 6% of the total cost for processing. The Client acknowledges that this refund policy will govern even if the Client encounters unforeseen circumstances.

From time to time, 7Sage may be sold out and offer potential Clients a spot on a Waitlist. If 7Sage has offered a package from a Waitlist and the Client has purchased from said Waitlist, such purchase will not be eligible for any refund unless otherwise noted.

7Sage shall not be obligated to refund the Client if and because the Client is disappointed by the results of their Applications.

Human summary: You can ask for a refund within six days, but we’ll charge you $350 per hour for any work we may have already done, plus a 6% processing fee.

Chargebacks

In the event that the Client initiates a chargeback dispute with their credit card issuer or financial institution regarding any payment made to 7Sage under the terms of this Agreement, 7Sage shall immediately terminate all services provided under this Agreement.

Termination

7Sage reserves the right to terminate this Agreement at any time if the Client misrepresents facts about themself, acts egregiously, becomes hostile, proves impossible to satisfy, maintains unreasonable expectations, or makes unreasonable demands despite 7Sage’s good-faith efforts. In such cases, 7Sage shall refund the Client on a prorated basis.

Acknowledgments

The Client’s test scores, high school GPA, disciplinary record, and many other factors over which 7Sage has no control will constrain and affect the Client’s chances of admission to college. 7Sage makes no guarantee, either explicit or implicit, that the Client will be admitted to any particular school.

College application requirements and the processes by which schools admit applicants may change from year to year, and 7Sage may from time to time be unaware of such changes.

Human summary: We’ll do our best to help you, but some of this is out of our control. We don’t guarantee that you’ll get accepted anywhere.

No Warranty

7Sage provides, in addition to the aforementioned Services, information and guidance about college admissions in the form of online lessons, videos, webinars, documents, and other forms of communication (“Materials”). 7Sage does not make any warranty of any kind (expressed or implied) as to the results that may be obtained from use of its Materials or Services. In particular, 7Sage does not guarantee that the Materials or Services will result in acceptance to an undergraduate institution, or that the Materials or Services will result in an offer of financial aid. 7Sage’s Materials and Services are provided “AS IS,” and 7Sage does not guarantee that they are accurate or current.

Package-Specific Terms

Scope of Service

7Sage will provide strategic consultation to help the Client prepare for the college application process. The Client will work with an Admissions Advisor.

Enumeration of Services

  • Strategic consultation about relevant application platforms and the Client’s school list, standardized testing strategy, application strategy, extracurricular activities, selection of high school classes, and other matters related to the Client’s applications.
  • 1 hour-long overview meeting followed by 11 30-minute meetings via phone or video call

Time Period

College Blueprint is intended to provide one year of Admissions Services.

If the Client purchases College Blueprint, the Admissions Services shall end as soon as any of the following events occur:

  1. One year elapses after the Client’s first meeting with the Admissions Advisor
  2. The Client and Advisor conclude their 11th 30-minute meeting.
  3. Two years elapse after the Client purchases the Admissions Services

For College Application Advising

Scope of Service

7Sage will offer strategic advice, editorial guidance, and proofreading for the Client’s applications to ten or fewer American undergraduate programs. In addition, 7Sage will provide post-application support on matters of waitlists, interviews, and school choice.

The Client will work with an Admissions Advisor and Writing Coach. The Writing Coach will edit the Client’s documents. The Admissions Advisor will provide strategic advice relating to the Client’s school list, outreach to admissions offices, campus visits, essay topics and outlines, and generic (i.e. not school-specific) sections of the Common App. They will also review drafts of essays in progress and give their final approval when an essay is complete. The Admissions Advisor will function as a project manager.

Covered Schools

For College Application Advising, 7Sage and the Client will agree on a list of schools (“Covered Schools”) for which 7Sage will provide Admissions Services. 7Sage will not be obligated to provide Admissions Services for additional schools, although the Client may apply to additional schools without 7Sage’s help.

If 7Sage and the Client do not explicitly decide on the Client’s Covered Schools, the Covered Schools shall consist of the first ten schools for which the Client receives 7Sage’s help after the execution of this Agreement.

All University of California schools will collectively count as one school.

The Client will only receive feedback from the Advisor and Writing Coach with whom they are paired. The Client will not receive feedback or advice from any other 7Sage consultants.

Enumeration of Services

  • Strategic consultation with the Advisor about relevant application platforms and the Client’s choice of Covered Schools, standardized testing strategy, application strategy, and other matters related to the Client’s Applications.
  • Two 30-minute phone or video calls with the Admissions Advisor per month
  • Editorial guidance from the Writing Coach on all documents the Client may need to write for their Applications to Covered Schools, including the Client’s main essay and supplemental essays (the “Documents”), but excluding any documents noted in the “What’s Not Included” section of this agreement.
  • The Writing Coach will offer their editorial guidance via one 60-minute phone or video call each week after they join the team. They will join the team when the Admissions Advisor feels it’s appropriate, but no later than August 1 of the year in which the student intends to submit their applications.
  • Guidance on correspondence with admissions officers at a Covered School
  • Review of Client’s Applications
  • Proofreading of each of the Client’s Applications (subject to other terms of this agreement)
  • Interview preparation
  • Waitlist strategy and editorial guidance on letters of continuing interest

Proofreading Policy

  • After the Client and 7Sage are both satisfied that a given Application is finished, 7Sage shall offer to perform a Final Proofread on said Application with the Client’s consent. The Final Proofread will be performed by a third-party proofreader, not the Consultants. Once an Application has been proofread, it is considered Finalized, and neither the Admissions Advisor nor the Writing Coach will offer further suggestions on that Application.
  • Our proofread will not include any suggestions, advice, or feedback on the content of the Client’s Application. The proofread only covers grammar, typos, spelling mistakes, punctuation errors, and usage errors.
  • 7Sage will not fact-check the Client’s Documents and is not responsible for any factual errors.
  • Though our proofreaders are highly skilled and work hard to ensure accuracy, they are also capable of error. 7Sage cannot guarantee that the proofread Document will be error-free. It is ultimately the Client’s responsibility to double-check Applications for errors prior to submitting them.

Time Period

College Application Advising is intended to cover ten applications in a single admissions cycle as well as post-application support.

If the Client purchases College Application Advising, the Admissions Services shall end as soon as any of the following events occur:

  1. The Client commits to a school
  2. The last day elapses of the August following the Client’s first application to a Covered School
  3. Eighteen months elapse after the Client’s first meeting with the Admissions Advisor
  4. Two years elapse after the Client purchases the Admissions Services

Severability

If any provision of this Agreement is void or unenforceable, such provision shall be deemed omitted and the remainder of this Agreement shall remain in full force and effect.

Assignment

7Sage shall have the right, at its election, to assign this Agreement to any person, firm, or corporation, including all 7Sage employees, contractors, shareholders, parent entities, subsidiaries, and affiliates. The Client may not assign its rights under this Agreement under any circumstances.

The Client agrees to protect, indemnify, save, defend, and hold harmless 7Sage, its affiliates, subsidiaries, parent entities, and partners, and each of their assigns, agents, representatives, officers, directors, shareholders, contractors, and employees from and against any and all expenses, damages, claims, suits, actions, judgments, costs, and expenses whatsoever (including reasonable attorney’s fees), arising out of, or in any way connected with (1) any breach of this Agreement; and/or (2) any acts or omissions of the Client. In the event 7Sage expends any monies in an effort to enforce the terms and conditions of this Agreement, the Client shall reimburse 7Sage for all of the said costs and expenses (including reasonable attorney’s fees).
