Joshua Ward is a med student, mentor, and essay whisperer who believes great storytelling can open just about any door. A graduate of Cornell University with degrees in Chemistry and Performing & Media Arts, Josh brings both logic and lyricism to every application he touches. He’s now a full-tuition scholar at Washington University School of Medicine, where he’s completed the core M.D. curriculum.
Over the past six years, Josh has helped students get into Ivy League colleges and top-tier MD programs by guiding them to write stories that capture their character, convictions, and voice. He challenges students to think critically about the experiences that have shaped them and guides them on a collaborative journey to craft essays that tell the story of who they are in a way that they can be proud of. Whether it’s a 650-word Common App draft or a med school personal statement, Josh helps students find the heartbeat of their story and make it sing.
When he’s not coaching or studying, Josh writes screenplays, plays jazz, and works on making neurosurgery sound cooler than it already is.
